Canadian TV commercials are too loud....and here is what you can do about it

You have probably noticed that TV commercials are much louder than the TV show itself. I find it annoying and I know that many of my patients do too. The CRTC (our Canadian broadcast regulator) received 304 complaints about this issue in 2010. And now, I have just read in the Globe and Mail that Nina Grewal, an MP from BC, is introducing a private member's bill to require broadcasters to ensure that the loudness of advertisements matches the level of the television program. I think this is wonderful and it is about time. So, please write to your local MP asking to support this private member's bill and write to the CRTC to urge them to turn down the volume of television advertisements.

How I got started

I never dreamed that I would start a blog. When I went to renew my yellow pages ad for my practice, Resonance Hearing Clinic, the sales rep suggested that I look into social media as a way to increase awareness of my practice http://www.resonancehearingclinic.com/ and the services I provide. After thinking about it, I realised that this may be a good idea. I am very aware of sounds, hearing, acoustics, ears and communication and I think the general public may find an Audiologist's perspective interesting. Stay tuned!
